A night out in Madison
Wisconsin's vibrant capital city, and its picturesque surrounding towns, offers visitors the best of all worlds: natural beauty, recreational opportunities, cultural offerings, distinctive
restaurants and shops, and a spirit of fun.
The fall, check out the stunning colors of Madison's changing foliage while biking, hiking, windsurfing, or walking. Winter, in its frozen splendor offers visitors opportunities such as
cross-country skiing, ice-skating, and downhill skiing.
Highlighted by Wisconsin's majestic state capital, Capital Square is an active gathering place for many. Built on a narrow isthmus between lakes Monona and Mendota, Madison basks
in spectacular natural beauty. These beautiful lakes and over 200 parks are open year round. Madison is home of the University of Wisconsin and the college boys are out and about.
Bars and restaurants
(5 Applegate Court), a complex that includes The Barracks Levi/leather men's bar, has Country Music line dancing, Tuesday 18+, and Sunday drag shows.
Shamrock (117 W. Main) is a friendly neighborhood bar and grill.
Woof's (114 King St) is a new bear and leather men's sports bar with pool, bowling and darts leagues.
Gay publications covering Wisconsin include
Quest , and Outbound.
The Madison Gay Video Club meets on the east side, first and third Saturdays. Non-sexual gay features screen on one level, hard-core porn shows in the basement -with a naked wrestling mat and oil for slippery fun if you choose. The movie can also be viewed from their hot tub.
Outreach (600 Williamson St) is Madison's LGBT Community Center.
Wisconsin Capitol Pride takes place this year on August 16 at 1pm with a parade around Capitol Square. Other events take place at the Alliant Energy Center, Willow Island August 15-16.
