Only an hour's drive from Des Moines, the second largest metropolitan area in Iowa, Cedar Rapids provides a variety of activities for visitors. You'll find a great art and history museum, theater, and one of the oldest and most prestigious symphony orchestras west of the Mississippi.
Club Basix (3916 1st Avenue, 319-363-3194) is on the main drag in town. They offer a variety of entertainment. Open 5pm to 2am daily, Basix offers dancing, drink
specials, hors d'oeuvres (Mondays and Fridays), and drawings and free giveaways on Fridays and Saturdays.
Hamburger Mary's (222 Glenbrook Dr SE) one of ten USA locations, open for lunch and dinner, with a full-service bar. Their nightly entertainment includes drag shows, both all-ages and 21-plus nights, plus comedy drag, karaoke, and Trivia Game nights.
In nearby Iowa City, Studio 13 (13 South Linn St) is that city's only gay night club, with drag shows Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, karaoke Tuesdays, and a big Saturday night dance party; open Tuesday through Sunday from 7pm-2am, ages 19 and above.
